Ground Water and Soil Contamination
Omni's staff has significant experience in determining the levels and causes of contamination in ground water and soil, analyzing the past and future movements of contaminants through ground water and soil, and creating customized and effective solutions.Omni's services in ground water and soil investigations include monitoring well installation, planning and oversight; soil and ground water sampling; soil gas surveys; geophysical testing; ground water flow direction determination; and contaminated ground water plume delineation. Our efforts in helping remediate contaminated ground water and soil include soil removal and disposal activities; alternative soil treatment methods; ground water treatment methods; quality assurance plans; site safety and health plans; bid specification development; contractor monitoring; interim and final compliance report preparation; and client/regulatory authority liaison. One of Omni's greatest tools in evaluating contamination in ground water and soil is the use of mathematical ground water models. Groundwater models are of great value for understanding sub-surface flow patterns and evaluating the evolution of contaminated areas. They help to predict the path of contamination at a given site, the extent of contamination, the best remediation techniques, and the time necessary for site cleanup.Models allow the representation of contaminants such as volatile organic compounds, heavy metals and BTEX products in the saturated layers of the soil. The model results can be used to estimate the time necessary for a given area to reach acceptable contaminant levels and to evaluate remediation scenarios that would lead to a more cost-effective site cleanup.
